This past weekend we spent sooo much time outside working in Darby. I'm sure minutes feel like hours due to the insane never ending summer heat. I literally can not take the heat another day.
I spent most of my energy painting and painting. The flat paint on the crusty old paneling is sucking up coat after coat of the paint, and most all of it has to be brushed on, no roller fast painting for me. Sigh. I purchased the Better Homes and Garden paint with primer in Lemonade Slush. I love it. I got a crazy bright orange color to do the cabinet doors, it's called Tangerine Dream. Both colors match well with the floor!
My handsome husband starting working on replacing the screens on the windows, we will replace each one with the darker solar screen to provide more privacy and let in less heat. We pulled up the ugly flooring previous owner put down right at the front door, and purchased parquet peel and stick tiles, you know to keep the sexy 70's going. Husband pulled down the paneling that has holes, or was not attached properly because the boards underneath were rotted. This task set me through a terrible phase of panic. It doesn't help that we've yet to replace it, and have no idea how to. I'm trying to stay calm. Trying. We even found some wildlife (froggy) hanging around in Darby.
Sunday morning was spent shopping for Darb. We hit up the Home Depot, and Lowes....and really didn't get nearly as much accomplished as we'd hoped. To further the frustration, I have managed to tear something in my knee and have been told to keep it light duty for a while by the Doc. Nice.
My mom is coming to visit this weekend, and I was hoping that we could be ready to get to the fun decorating part, but we're miles from that. I am however still very excited that she's coming. We've got great big plans! This Saturday is the school garage sale at the high school that Handsome works at, and it's also the garage sale weekend for the subdivision close by the school. Yeah! I look forward to the fall garage sale weekends. I typically get good finds...like a fountain for my yard for $3 that works, or a $25 brand new Dyson Animal. Yeah I know I rock it! I plan on being up at 6, and out of the house by 6:30, dressed and ready to go, reusable bags in the car, and the husband prepped for any emergency calls to come get any large items in the truck. He he! I'll be sure to share my finds!
I'm leaving you with some pics of our progress, or rather the 2 steps back we've taken.

Funky Finds
Last night I finally made the time to go outside and play in Darby. By "Play" I mean I got to scrubbing on her. I must say previous owner didn't pass on a filth pit. Just a tad bit of grease on the stove, but a good bit of dust. I pulled out all the cushions...and found a little surprise behind one of the bench cushions...a hole in the paneling. I'm not sure that it's even worth replacing, once I replace the cushions it'll be hidden again. I must say I felt a tad disappointed....it is only a bazillion years older than me. (12)
I still need to spend my weekend attacking all things Darby with the Dyson, some scrubby brush on the floors. The paint is flat, and it just looks like dirt to me, probably because it feels like dirt. I will be splashing some semi-gloss on 'er soon enough.
I've been getting some goodies ready for when she's all cleaned up and ready for decorating and I'd like to share those with you.
Mind you my budget is SMALL like extra small, so I'm keeping it thrifty on my Funky finds, but I think it'll all pull together great in the end.
Goodies I've collected so far:
Fab fabrics in fun funky colors and patterns, some I purchased just for Darby, some I've had in my stash.
A puke green speckled tea pot.
Animal print bedding...the comforter set is brown with a zebra print burn out...it'd never show up well in pics. Just imagine it, k?
Jazzy pillows for the bed.
Polk a dot trashcan and broom set, and a bright green lighter for housekeeping and fire building.
Bright Bright towels.
Cherry contact paper for the shelves and the one whole drawer in the place.
and I made these fabric covered boxes for storage:
All in all I think I managed to come up with a good bit of Funky Junk on a tight budget.

Introductions
Welcome to my little corner of the web.
Let me be honest, this is not my first blogging attempt, and it may very well be a fail like the one(s) before it. So have low expectations, k?
I'm Laura, as my little bio says over there to tha right.
I have a handsome husband, Dallas and a silly daughter, Neely. He's old, she's six.
I enjoy all things crafty, all things food, and all things fun (again like the bio over there says).
This here is Darby. We just acquired her this past weekend. I love vintage trailers, and have been eyeing them for a while, wishing and dreaming. Handsome Husband made my dream come true for me!
I named her Darby as that's what I would want to name my next child had we of had another daughter. We're not planning on more children, so this is my new baby.
I'm very excited to "fix her up" and create new adventures in her as a family, as an independent woman empowered by my new abilities to travel alone with it...and to try new things as a person who's growing in life and love.
I hope you stick around, share this experience with me and my clan, and offer up some feedback and encouragement!
